About the Event

I was deeply affected by the police murder of George Floyd on May 25 particulary by his pleads for mercy and last words. To process the hate and racism at play I started painting on long stretches of paper. After a few days I started reflecting on racism in Canada and how each and every single Missing and Murdered Indigenous Woman in this country - there are over a thousand or even more - has a name and a story and loved ones grieving. Painting about 150 of them, saying their names and their ages, I felt I got to make a connection regardless how brief. We must stand together to end racism and protect the dignity of Black, Indigenous and people of colour.
